Community involvement and integrity are deeply rooted in the corporate culture of Direct Wonen. Though financial results are important to continuity and investment to improve our service and growth, social values are also a cornerstone of our business ideology. Sustainable and responsible business dealings are a key element of our vision.
Our social responsibility charter is based on three key areas: People, Environment and Society.
Our employees
Our goal is to create a healthy and challenging working environment for our employees while encouraging personal growth and development. We believe education and training both play a major role in this growth. We strive for an open business culture, with coaching and mutual communication playing a central role.
Diversity
Diversity is of great importance to the ongoing success of Direct Wonen. Talent is recruited from all corners of the world, and equal and respectful treatment of all employees is central to the defined HR policy. Within Direct Wonen, our policy is that everyone has a right to equal opportunities and treatment.
Environment
Our principle is to keep our environmental footprint as small as possible. This has been established through our procedures and practices and is demonstrated every day, whether in proper waste separation in our offices or viewing homes by bicycle in busy town centres.
Social involvement
Direct Wonen attaches great value to our involvement in society. This involvement can be seen in our business decisions and evaluation of results, where the added value for the (international) community is taken into account when making decisions.
The type of the businesses we are in – all related to housing – provided the inspiration for Direct Wonen to reconcile business activities with social responsibility values in our particular sphere of attention: Living.
This has been formalized since 2005; after careful selection, we decided to direct our attention to a small organization in Ethiopia. Oprifs ensures that the street girls in the capital Addis Ababa have a good, dependable roof over their heads. Read more about Oprifs.
